Design of Experiments, A Realistic Approach

Anderson, Virgil and McLean, Robert (1974) "Design of Experiments, A Realistic Approach", Marcell Decker (ISBN 0-8247-7493-0)

Comments:

This design of experiment book is not as fully rounded nor as easy to read as some, none-the-less it should be required reading for the serious industrial experimenter. The single most important contribution this book makes is the concept of a "restriction error" when randomization is not feasible or easy in the course of an experiment. From page 125, "The real power of the restriction error is that it makes the experimenter think about the restriction on randomization he has imposed on the design and to understand its effect on the overall results of the experiment." This concept is the foundation of our graphical methods for the planning of DOEs. Reviewed by Sanders
